Question 9: Extend "Camp Harmony" is told from the first-person point of view - that is, using the word "I". What other information might a third-person account include that Sone's cannot?
The story "Camp Harmony", if told from the third person perspective, might include information that Sone wouldn't know herself. The story might also include opinions, feelings and thought of other characters and not just the author's. That way, we'll be able to understand the story not just through Sone's eyes, which sometimes can be an unreliable source.
Why is it unreliable to to see the whole story through Sone's eyes? Is it because this is a nonfiction story that if some of Sone's feelings in the story might not be factual? I agree there are more other character's action, feelings, opinions in the story if it's written in third person POV; which make readers understand the story better.
ReplyDeleteYour idea is very interesting when you say it's sometimes can be an unreliable source...In this case: she didn't know the right reason why they were put into camps so she said what she think and it's wrong...so it's totally right in that case. I also think that you can understand more about the Executive Order from a U.S. army officer's POV or a governor's POV as well. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteYou are right. As you said, we would have more information if it's a 3rd person narrative. We will understand the story more and it makes everything a lot easier for us to understand the story.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you, Olia. It would be more detailed and easier to understand if it wasn't a third person point of view. We wouldn't understand how the people felt about moving into these camps and their reactions when they got there.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you (only for this time) Olia. Third person perspectives are more reliable since the narrator is not involved within the story-telling, which makes everything less biased. Well written response!
ReplyDeleteI like your post. It's much more easier to understand compare to mine =v=...
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I like it :) If it was told from third person, we can know about other feeling and thought, not just the author
